The average age; 20 years 2 months. Americans from every political, social, economical and religious cross section. Because that’s how we raise them in America

For the rest of the nation September 11, 2016 marks the 15th Anniversary of the deadliest attack on America since Pearl Harbor. But for Gold Star Families it also marks the beginning of a journey of incredible selflessness by America’s finest young men & women. Over Six Thousand (6,884) American soldiers, our children, have died in Iraq & Afghanistan since that September morning.

This year the Let Freedom Ring celebration will become the Texas Heroes Celebration. On September 10th We will honor the 640 Texas men and women who gave their last full measure on the battlefield for our freedom. It will be a great day in Houston Texas!

The event will include; Opening Flag Ceremony and Guest speakers and Silent Auction, and Local Vendor Booths. This year our Hero Tribute Tent with the Gold Star family memorabilia will also house Rolling Thunder Memorial Wall with the names of the 640 Heroes. In addition we will be planting a *640 Flag Victory Garden.

As any good Texan knows you can’t have a real celebration without Texas BBQ so were going to throw in an awesome BBQ Lunch, and finish off the day with musical entertainment by Rex Robards.

So what is this Great Day going to cost you?

General Admission – FREE – This is a General Admission Pass – Come enjoy the Opening Ceremony and stop by the Hero Tribute Tent, visit the local vendors and enjoy the musical Entertainment.

$10 Texas BBQ Lunch (kids under 12 eat free with paid adult.) Texas Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Juicy Hamburgers, Plump Hot dogs, Baked Beans, potato salad, all the fixins’

Victory Garden Hero Flag – $20 – This is a Full Access Pass that includes sponsorship of a *Hero Flag to plant in the Victory Garden & Texas BBQ Lunch

*Victory Garden Hero Flags – This is our only fund raising event this year. It sets the foundation for the Home Front Hero Holiday Project. We need to have all 640 Flags sponsored so please consider spending just a little more and becoming a Victory Garden Hero Flag sponsor.

But what about the Let Freedom Ring celebration? We have not forgotten our promise to the families of those brave souls who are now in the hands of our Lord.

On Tuesday September 11, 2001 at 8:46 AM (eastern time) American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. That single cowardly act set into motion a living hell for 6,884 American families whose sons and daughters volunteered to fight what seems link a never ending battle against evil.

Those fine Americans never made it home but “We will Never Forget!”

Let Freedom Ring - Gold Star Mother Lynn KlasnoOn September 11, 2016 Gold Star Dads will Remember. We will Call the Names and Ring the Freedom Bell for each of the 640 Texas Heroes who gave their last full measure on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ceremony will feature an opening prayer, posting of the colors, reading of the 640 names and the ringing of the Freedom Bell for each. The ceremony will finish with the blowing of Taps and Rifle Salute. This emotional two-hour ceremony is open to the public.

If you live in Kingwood or the greater Houston area we encourage you to attend and pray with us for those families. I know its Sunday but you can miss church today, God will be honored that you chose to attend this event and honor these families. Come and pray with us for all the Active Duty families that still have Heroes in harm’s way. We will start at 7:30 am Sharp so don’t be late.

We need at least ten (10) volunteers to read the names
and at least six (6) Military Veterans to Ring the Freedom Bell

    Carson and Penny George, parents of LCPL Phillip C. George, KIA Afghanistan 18 August 2005. We will be in Jasper, Texas for a Sept 9 event honoring 9-11. I will have the Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial Wall with me for that event. We will leave in time to be their.
