The call to colors sounded at 0730 and the Combined Forces Honor Guard Team commanded by CMSgt Hosea Taylor U.S. Air Force hoisted the National Colors and Gold Star Banner to half-staff to begin the 2013 Let Freedom Ring ceremony. We are only Five Days Away! This will be the biggest undertaking to date for the Gold Star Dads organization, between the Let Freedom Ring ceremony (we expect about 150 patriots present) and the 150 – 200 bikes in the Gold Star Tribute Ride coupled with all of our patriot friends and volunteers, this is going to be some Father’s Day Celebration. Here are the details;
“Let Freedom Ring” Posting of Colors & Name Reading Ceremony – Join us as we Celebrate the lives of America’s Combat Veterans and Honor the Memories of those who gave there last full measure defending our liberty. During the ceremony we will be reading the names of the soldiers, airmen, sailors & marines who have died since last Father’s Day (177 as of 9 June 2013) Call to Colors at 0730 SHARP

“Gold Star Hero Ride” Poker Run, Classic Rock Music Jam and BBQ – Riders will be converging on the National Guard Armory in Riverside, California from five (5) different start locations in So. California. We expect upwards of 200+ riders for this event. Kick stands up at 0900 from all locations.

The purpose of the Gold Star Installation Access Card is to facilitate easy access to all Army Installations for Gold Star Family members to receive services, attend events, view memorials, etc. The Gold Star Installation Access Card is for Family members who are eligible to receive the Gold Star Lapel Button or Gold Star Next of Kin Lapel Button and does not already have a Department of Defense (DoD) Identification Card (DD Form 1173).
Army Gold Star Family members who meet the above criteria may apply for the Gold Star Installation Access Card regardless of Army component of the deceased Service Member. The Army has made a commitment to honor their sacrifice, the service and memory of their loved ones, and include Survivors in the Army Family for as long as they desire.
The DA Form 1602, Gold Star Installation Access Card does not provide any additional benefits or entitlements not already authorized to that Gold Star Family member such as Post Exchange or Commissary privileges, cannot be used for the Trusted Traveler Programs which allows all DoD Identification Cardholders to vouch for occupants in their immediate vehicle, does not guarantee access to non-Army Installations, and does not guarantee access to an Army Installation if the garrison’s Force Protection Condition is elevated.
