Gold Star Dad Jim Frazier of Lake in the Hills, Illinois has been appointed the National SOL for Gold Star Dads of America. Jim’s son, Staff Sgt. Jacob Frazier USAF was KIA 29 March 2003 in Afghanistan. Jim’s day job is as the Northern Illinois SOS Coordinator so I am sure he will have no problem handling this position.

Gold Star Dad Russell Repkie has been appointed to take over the recently vacated captain position for Eastern TN – The previous captain, Brian Shilling has moved his family to Michigan. Russell is the father of Army PFC Robert Kelsey Repkie, KIA 24 June 2010. 2013 Gold Star Hero Ride, Classic Music Jam and BBQ
Gentlemen mark your calendars on Saturday 15 JUNE 2013, that’s Fathers Day weekend. When southern California will erupt in a flood of sight & sound as 100’s of rumbling motorcycle rally to the first and we hope annual “Gold Star Hero Ride” featuring a Poker Run, Classic Music Jam and BBQ.
Riders will be forming at five (5) start points, (Riverside, Temecula/Murrieta, High Desert Victorville, Orange County, Fontana) all converging on the National Guard Armory and Fairmount Park in Riverside, CA. This is going to be an awesome event and our biggest, most important fund raising effort of the year.

The Loma Linda Veterans Hospital in southern California was aglow with the sights and sounds of Christmas on December 18thfor the first ever Blue & Gold Christmas at the VA.
The event was sponsored by Gold Star Dads of America but we couldn’t have pulled it off without the awesome support of the Blue Star Moms “A Team” and our civilian volunteers.
The previous week members from the Blue Star Moms H.O.M.E and Blue Star “A Team’ members, spent 3 hours decorating the Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center. After putting up three (3) Christmas and decorating the Community Living Center & OEF/OIF/OND Offices, they still found energy to hang door decorations on patient rooms on 3 floors of the main Hospital. So getting ready for a little Christmas party for 100 of our sweetest veterans was a piece of cake, literally. Continue reading
